![]() I own a couple of mono Nagras if I get nostalgic. If I sell it, I'll likely never own one again, so it's like breaking up with an old friend.Īny reason I might want to hang onto the IV-S for nostalgic or practical reasons? I've got a bunch of old audio tapes but have a 4-track TEAC I can use for playback or transfer, don't need the IV-S for that. I see that IV-S's still fetch a few thousand $'s on ebay, so there are still analog fanatics and swiss collectors looking for them. ![]() I don't do nearly as much recording as I used to, have moved on to other hobbies in recent years.ĪNyway, my IV-S still sits proudly as a lovely object on a display shelf, and I've thought many times about selling it. Transferring the audio files to my Mac for editing and sharing is so straightforward. I bought a used SD 744t a few years ago and have used it exclusively to record ever since, it's just so much easier and the result is more than acceptable. THe resulting sound wasn't too shabby either, the Nagras have great preamps. I used to record 2-track live music to my venerable Nagra IV-S, and loved the tactile experience with the tape.
